Scope

  • The Fort Calhoun Nuclear Generating Station is a decommissioned nuclear power plant situated on 660 acres along the Missouri River between Fort Calhoun and Blair, Nebraska, with an additional 580 acres maintained in a natural state under utility easement.
  • The plant is owned by the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) and, during operations, generated 484 megawatts of electricity, representing 25 percent of OPPD’s net generation capacity.
  • The project scope was expanded to include the structural demolition and asbestos abatement of 20 building structures and appurtenances, totaling 1,000,000 square feet across 25 acres.
  • Demolition activities include structures up to 180 feet in height, encompassing the turbine building, ballistics enclosures, lift stations, underground utilities, and underground storage tanks (USTs).
